The gourmet canned Small Sardines from Real Conservera come exclusively from the Galician estuaries area. Sardines are fished in what is known as “bajura” fishing campaigns, which take place in waters close to the coast.
The pilchardus sardine is caught in the Atlantic Ocean using traditional and sustainable gear, always choosing the ideal time of day and the ideal time of year in which it has more fat, which ensures its juicy texture and exceptional flavor.
During production, the sardines are cleaned and eviscerated manually, one by one. This is done with extreme care as not to damage the fish in any way. Then, they are washed in brine and toasted, as was traditionally done in the old days, giving them the desired texture. Immediately afterwards, they are introduced into the container with their olive oil covering liquid (85% refined and 15% virgin). Our canned seafood is always packed by hand, according to size.
Once sealed, the Small Sardines in Olive Oil have a shelf life of 6 years. Store in a cool, dry place.
We recommend tasting with fresh tomato or salted butter and with some thin slices of onion on toast.
